Spencer Massey, winner of the 2009 Southern California Auto Club’s Road to the Future award as the top NHRA professional rookie, enters his third full season of Top Fuel competition looking to again be a threat on NHRA’s Full Throttle Drag Racing tour.

Massey finished second in the 2011 NHRA Full Throttle Top Fuel standings. With back-to-back wins in Topeka and Englishtown the FRAM/Prestone/Autolite Top Fuel team came alive in the summer. He kicked off NHRA’s drag racing’s notorious “Western Swing” with a win in Denver before making headlines in the fall by winning on a holeshot in Reading in the quickest side-by-side race in NHRA drag racing history.

Superb reaction times are just one element Massey brings to the FRAM/Prestone/Autolite Top Fuel dragster. A former crew member and crew chief on a Top Alcohol dragster, Massey is in tune with the race car.

When Massey is not blasting down the 1,000-foot NHRA strip he can be found either working on cars or fishing. For years he has also applied his automotive technical skills to buying used trucks, repairing them and selling them at a profit, going as far as a partnership in a used-truck operation. The other way he unwinds between races is bass or catfish fishing with his buddies.

Massey also enjoys driving his motorhome across the country to each NHRA Full Throttle Series event.
