Don Schumacher Racing (DSR) will again open its doors and invite race fans to visit its headquarters Sept. 2nd for the sixth annual DSR Open House to benefit Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis.
The DSR Open House runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. featuring all seven DSR drivers and several legendary NHRA racers and corresponds with the opening day of professional qualifying for the 57th-annual U.S. Nationals where nitro qualifying is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. at nearby Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis.
All proceeds from the DSR Open House will benefit Riley Hospital for Children. DSR has generated more than $130,000 for Riley from its Open House and Bowling for Riley events.
The popular event will be highlighted by the Indy Hi-Winders Car Club Car and Motorcycle Show and will feature an autograph session with DSR professional drivers Tony Schumacher, Spencer Massey, Antron Brown, Ron Capps, Jack Beckman, Matt Hagan and Johnny Gray.
Along with the modern day DSR stars, drag racing legends including team owner Don Schumacher, are scheduled to appear during the autograph session. The popular cacklefest will also again roar to life at the mega team’s facility.
“The annual open house here at DSR has become synonymous with Riley Hospital (for Children) and the U.S. Nationals, and we’re fortunate to see such great support from the race fans who show up by the thousands to see our facility and help support such a great cause,” Don Schumacher said. “We think this will be our best open house to date with the car show, cacklefest and the addition of some of the biggest names in the history of the sport, whom we’re thrilled to host. This event will be a terrific kickoff to the 57th annual U.S. Nationals.”
Race fans will have the opportunity to tour DSR’s 100,000-square-foot headquarters which houses the U.S. Army, FRAM and Matco Tools Top Fuel dragsters and the NAPA AUTO PARTS, DieHard, Aaron’s/Valvoline and Service Central Funny Car teams. Visitors also will be able to see DSR’s in-house fabrication and machine shop areas. Race fans will be able to walk away with custom race memorabilia in live and silent auctions, with all proceeds going to Riley.
“Each year Don Schumacher Racing brings racing enthusiasts together to make a difference in the lives of Riley patients. They understand the vital role Riley Hospital plays in securing a healthy future for children,” said John Carreon, assistant vice president at Riley Children’s Foundation. “We are grateful for the continuous support and generosity of Don Schumacher Racing, and are overwhelmed with the time and energy they devote towards helping children.”
