DSR drivers Capps and Gray to participate in Aftermarket Foundation Celebrity Golf Tournament Monday in Las Vegas

October 28

Don Schumacher Racing drivers Ron Capps, NAPA AUTO PARTS, and Johnny Gray, Service Central/ Big O Tires, will step out of their Funny Cars and into their golf shoes on the day after the 11th-annual Big O Tires NHRA Nationals here to participate in the 20th-annual Aftermarket Foundation Celebrity Golf Tournament.

In addition to the drivers, Don Schumacher Racing (DSR) will display Gray’s Service Central Dodge Charger R/T Funny Car and the U.S. Army Top Fuel dragster piloted by seven-time champion Tony Schumacher at the Las Vegas Country Club, site of the 144-golfer program Monday, October 31, on the eve of the AAPEX and SEMA trade shows here.

“We are thrilled to help in any way we can,” said Don Schumacher, who in addition to running DSR heads up Schumacher Electric, the world’s largest battery-charger company. “This is a great cause, one which is there for any person from the automotive aftermarket who finds himself in dire straits.”

The Aftermarket Foundation Golf Tournament will also feature PGA golfer, Bruce Fleisher, who will run a clinic for the Aftermarket golfers, which will include representatives of leading companies from across the Automotive Aftermarket industry.

“This is the single biggest fundraising event in our year.” said Bob Hirsch, President of the Aftermarket Foundation and Chairman of the Gold Eagle Company.  “We are very grateful to Don Schumacher and his team for co-sponsoring our tournament and adding these wonderful extra attractions. Our golfers are aftermarket guys.  They love cars and are even more enchanted by race cars, so this will add a lot of fun for them.”

“The Foundation is on a new path this year to increase public awareness across the aftermarket and the involvement of DSR will help us meet those goals.  Their support is deeply appreciated.”

For more than 50 years, the Aftermarket Foundation has been assisting individuals and families from the automotive aftermarket industry who have fallen on extreme hard times because of death,   serious illness or other financial hardship.  The Foundation is run by volunteer industry leaders.  It is organized as a charitable organization, registered under IRS 501(c)(3), and contributions to the Foundation are tax deductible.  For more information, visitwww.aftermarketfoundation.org .
