June 7 set for DSR to host Third Annual Riley Hospital for Children charity bowling event

May 24

Looking to continue helping Indianapolis’s Riley Hospital for Children and Riley’s Children’s Foundation, Don Schumacher Racing and the Indianapolis-area NAPA AUTO PARTS Distribution Center will host the third annual NAPA Bowling for Riley charity event June 7 at Brownsburg Bowl.

Participating bowlers will share time with National Hot Rod Association drivers in a program which has raised more than $20,000 during its initial two events.

DSR drivers Ron Capps, Tony Schumacher, Antron Brown, Jack Beckman and Spencer Massey, will be joined by NHRA stars Larry Dixon, Brandon Bernstein, Mike Neff, Morgan Lucas, Shawn Langdon, Tony Pedregon, Cory McClenathan, Tommy Johnson, Jr., Chip Ellis, Andrew Hines, and Eddie Kraiwec in an evening of competition on a straight “track,” but one without 8,000-horsepower dragsters and Funny Cars.

"I can't think of a better way to spend a Tuesday evening than raising money for the Riley kids,” said Bob Wildt, Sales Manager for the NAPA Indianapolis Distribution Center. “I invite everyone to come out and join us for a great time, for a great cause. All of the NHRA drivers are very sociable; you will not be disappointed."

Registration is available for the 28 four-person bowling teams. Single bowlers also may register to bowl. Drivers will rotate lanes so every bowler can spend time with a different driver for each of the three games.

In addition to the action on the alleys, there will be a silent auction and various door prizes given away during the evening. Non-bowlers are welcome to watch and participate in these activities.

All proceeds benefit Riley Hospital and Riley Children’s Foundation. DSR has raised more than $120,000 for Riley Hospital during the past five years with its annual U.S. Nationals Open House and charity bowling event.

Capps, who drives the NAPA AUTO PARTS Funny Car, looks forward to an evening with his fans and peers.

“Very rarely do drivers get to spend an evening like this during the season,” he said. “For the fans to be able to join these drivers and my NAPA team in a fun and relaxed event away from the track, the whole night becomes even more special.

“But most importantly, the chance for the fans and the racers to be able to raise money for such a great cause takes it to another level!”

“Each year Don Schumacher Racing brings racing enthusiasts together to make a difference in the lives of Riley patients. They understand the vital role Riley Hospital plays in securing a healthy future for children,” said John Carreon, assistant vice president at Riley Children’s Foundation. “We are grateful for the continuous support and generosity of Don Schumacher Racing, and are overwhelmed with the time and energy they devote towards helping children.”

Registration for four-person bowling teams is $200 and individuals can bowl for $50. Non-bowlers can enter the event for $10 or purchase access to the VIP Room for $25. Children 12-and-under are free with a paying adult. The event begins at 6 p.m. on June 7.
