Three DSR teams make finals for 2011 Full Throttle Hardworking Crew Award

Three of the Don Schumacher Racing teams – one in Top Fuel and two in Funny Car – have been nominated for the 2011 NHRA Full Throttle Hard-Working Crew Award.

Drag-racing fans, by casting votes at www.nhra.com, will determine the winners – one per category – who will each take home a $25,000 prize. Votes will be tallied through Monday, November 14^th, the day after the season-ending Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona.

The DieHard Advanced Gold Dodge Charger R/T Funny Car received the nod for its efforts in September helping propel Matt Hagan to a record 3.995-second elapsed time en route to capturing the pole and Wally at the Charlotte race.

Johnny Gray’s Service Central Funny Car team’s nomination came from this past weekend’s efforts in Las Vegas at putting the Funny Car back together for a third-consecutive final-round appearance. A spectacular explosion in Saturday’s final-qualifying session blew the body off the car and the race track, presenting a true challenge to get ready by Sunday’s final eliminations.

Also receiving a nomination due to efforts at the Las Vegas event, Spencer Massey’s diligent crew was recognized for its ability to return from not qualifying in the previous race and putting the FRAM/Prestone Top Fuel dragster into the final round this past weekend on The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

“I always talk about how I am blessed to be surrounded at DSR by great people and these nominations are an example of how folks outside our organization recognize this fact,” said Don Schumacher.
